Friends - Traveling with kids in Kenya

 One of the hardest parts of being here has been missing out on our friends back home.  I've had friends who have lived overseas and in big cities with lots of ex-patriots you can usually find a lot of church friends, or job friends, or school friends.  We don't happen to be a big town though so friends are much harder to get our hands on.  We have been lucky to make friends with the kids of all the physicians who live here (although almost all of them are the age of 2), all the guards, all the nannies, our neighbors, and the kids at church.  One of our lucky finds are the children of the Duke Cardiologist who spends 6 months here, and 6 months in Durham.  He has four kids and they are just lovely.  While all the other kids in Kenya happen to be in school right now, they are around and they are fun.  I'm glad we had the opportunity to overlap with them.  Included are also some of our other friends.

When you've been playing with two year old for two months, the opportunity to play games with kids your own age is a super special treat...although maybe A doesn't agree, or maybe she just thought me taking pictures of them was super creepy.  Look at little baby L.  Is she not one of the cutest babies you've ever seen.  I mean she is seriously just a doll baby.

 Here's a picture from our Indian neighbors house.  She doesn't speak any English, I don't speak any Swahili but we get on just fine.  All of her kids and nieces and nephews speak English and even though her parrot only speaks Swahili the kids still find it beyond fascinating.

 Our you guys getting sick of pictures of the Michaels?  Well I'm sorry but here are a few more.  Cheetah isn't the only one who is in love with mustache Michael.  Peach likes to sit and draw with him after dinner drawing or chatting.  Today he was trying to teach the overtired girl to tie her own shoes.  You should have seen the freak out when I brought her home.

 Speaking of Michael, her is another great shot of Michael the guard.  We visit him everyday and the girls just can't get enough of him.  We will miss him when we have to head back home.

 These are some of our friends from church.  They do coco and cookies every week after church and the kids love it.

 We are going to miss Josie and Archer as well.  They are our every day playmates and they seriously are keeping us sane.  I love this picture of Cheetah and Archer.  Cheetah is 4 months older than A, but you'd never be able to tell by just glancing at them.
